Jumping on the Bandwagon (My take on Twilight)

Yep, I’ve seen the film. We wanted to watch it on the first day, so we had to settle for the 10 pm screening. The verdict: I loved it! I will probably watch it again, in fact.

I was never really a Twilight fan until June this year, when I was looking for a book to read during a long 24-hour flight from the U.S. I wanted to read something light and enjoyable (I’m still in my Jodi Picoult phase, but reading her novels almost always give me a heavy feeling afterwards), and this series captured my interest. Needless to say, I finished the first book on the airplane ride back home. The book is not a literary masterpiece, but it was so addicting.

I don’t want to give too much away, but the film really managed to capture all the parts of the book which I loved. I’ve heard complaints that it was boring in some parts, and I agree to some extent, but that is to be expected from a first film in a series, because there’s a lot of introduction and exposition involved.

On the shallow side, watching this film in the theater was an experience in itself. The first time Edward appeared onscreen (it seemed like slow motion, or perhaps time just stood still? Hehe) a lot of the females in the theater couldn’t contain their squealing. And to think I watched this in Rockwell!

On a scale of 1 to 5, I’d give this a four stars. Watch it in theaters, but if you’re not an avid fan, go on the second week. Fangirls can be crazy :)
